Bennett, the second son of Ryan and Nikki, had to go under surgery right after his birth. Nikki was informed about her son's defects at five months pregnant. In an article in PEOPLE, the doctors informed them that their son might not survive, which devastated both Ryan and Nikki.
At this time of distress, the couple said Hudson was their best support. The couple said their son would put a smile on their faces no matter how upset they were. Nikki visited Children's Hospital Los Angeles on the recommendation of her friend Kelly Zajfen.
