Born as Nigel John Dermot "Sam" Neill on September 14, 1947, Sam is the son of Dermot Neill and his wife, Priscilla Beatrice. His father was an army officer and was placed in Northern Ireland while Sam was born. After graduation from Victoria University in Bachelors of Arts, he started his acting career.
