Tisha Campbell's career has been a sweet fixation on television for more than four decades. Best recognized for portraying Gina Waters-Payne on Fox's sitcom, Martin, Campbell's boasts a host of credits that've overtime proven her versatility. Born Tisha Michelle Campbell on October 13, 1968, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she had a broken childhood. Campbell and Duane Martin were once on the list of Hollywood's most adored couples. Both Tisha and Martin had built a robust profile for themselves when their paths crossed in the 90s. They reportedly dated for six years and on August 17, 1996, the couple walked down the aisle to start their conjugal journey.   

The pair welcomed two sons, Xen and Ezekiel, during their more than two- decade-long marriage. For the longest time, Tisha and Martin were the strongest couple in the face of the Hollywood, navigating every twist and turn with grace, and courage.  

The Rita Rocks actress stood strong by her husband when Duane ventured outside of Hollywood business. The duo discovered more love for one another when their elder son, Xen, was diagnosed with autism at 23 months old. Campbell and Martin raised their challenged kid with love and double care, and also helped others by raising awareness on the disorder. 

Though Campbell and Duane's conjugal ties ended in 2018, the couple kept seemingly kept their differences aside for the sake of their sons. The estranged pair agreed to share joint legal and physical custody of their children. Two years after their split, the Martin actress commemorated her son's admission in his dream college.  

Posting a celebratory pic of herself with son Xen, the doting mother shared how she cried tears of joy upon learning of her son's milestone. The former couple's younger son, Ezekiel, who was born in 2009, is still too young to be deciding on a career, but he sure is the cutest fixation on both his parents' Instagram.

Tisha and Martin's divorce was culmination of years of issues and challenges. While it dropped like a bomb on fans who had long viewed the couple as an unbreakable power team, insiders knew their separation was longtime coming. "It just got to the breaking point," a source close to the couple explained. 

The insider further added, "It's one of those things where they've been talking about it and fighting it out and trying to come to a conscious uncoupling." It was The Martin actress who first pulled the plug on their strained marriage and made the divorce announcement in early 2018.  

"After 27 years of being together and two amazing children, it pains me to announce that I've filed for divorce," Campbell said in a statement. According to the court document submitted by Tisha, she and Duane had split ways in December 2016, around the same time the couple underwent some financial woes.  

The two had been facing financial issues after taking some loans and in 2016, it came to a point where the two had to file for $14.5 million in bankruptcy. Tisha, however, later accused her ex-husband of "hiding" and peculating money while they were married.  

Tisha and Duane's divorce was a bitter process. Shortly after announcing their long-pending separation, Tisha filed a restraining order against Martin while accusing him of being "emotionally and physically" abusive to her throughout their marriage.

Tisha's acrimonious divorce came to an end in 2020 but the ghost of her past didn't leave for a long time. The outspoken actress previously explained how she underwent five stages of grief while accepting her new reality. Campbell recalls she was on 'survival mode" during the heartbreaking phase of her life.   

"Going through and navigating and rediscovering oneself outside of the labels is one of the most devastating things one can go through in a relationship," said the Uncoupled actress. A lot happened after the actress's long-stretched marriage with Martin finally unraveled.  

Campbell was "flat-out broke" following the messy split. The estranged couple were ordered zero spousal, and child support in the settlement, leaving Campbell, as she confessed, with merely $7 in her bank account. "I was scared. It was like starting all over," said the Rita Rocks star.  

Campbell has evidently stayed clear of dating games as she hasn't been linked with anyone since the divorce. But thankfully, the Martin alum has landed on her feet, and is actively reclaiming her power. Uncoupled, Acts Your Age, and The J Team are some of the many projects that she has starred in since hitting rock bottom.  

Aside from her career resurgence, Campbell has also been navigating a personal renaissance. The actress dropped her ex-husband's last name two years after the divorce in 2022. "I'm Tisha Campbell. Hello, nice to meet you," The Martin actress wrote on Instagram while announcing that she had finally come to terms with her life.
