Dive into Alicia Keys' enduring conjugal life: The Grammy-winning singer is a mother to two!
A multiple Grammy-winning singer and songwriter, Alicia Keys is a long-reigning female pop star. Being one of the oldest players of the early-aughts, Keys' multi-faceted career is no less than an empire. It is no secret either that the singer's professional and personal trajectories have been covered extensively, giving fans plenty of insights into her life.
Born on January 25, 1981, in Manhattan, New York, Keys kicked off her musical journey after manager Jeff Robinson spotted her talent, and took her under his wing. Alicia shot to fame with her debut album, Songs in a Minor, and the stardom sustained for the next two decades. The Girl on Fire crooner branched her repertoire to television and authorship in recent years.
Inside Alicia Keys' Fairy-Tale Conjugal Life!
Keys has been married to Swizz Beatz since 2010. The Grammy winner has weathered a few bumps in her career but her personal life has been sorted from the get-go. The Best of Me hitmaker first met Beatz at the onset of her young career in the 90s.
In her memoir, More Myself, Keys, the singer-songwriter pens the initial aversion she felt towards Swizz because of his flashy lifestyle. "I wanted nothing to do with that scene or with Swizz," writes the Girl On Fire singer. But all that changed when Alicia reunited with Swizz years later in 2008.
The artists' low-profile dating approach turned into PDA-packed affairs in the years to come, cementing themselves as a stable couple in an age filled with whirlwind lovers. And despite being the top-tier singer at the time, Alicia's track record reveals no other name than Swizz.
In May 2010, the Manhattan-born singer made the doubly happy announcement of her engagement with Beatz, and also, their first baby on the way. The meant-to-be couple walked down the aisle on July 31, 2010, and welcomed their firstborn in October of the year. Keys kept her motherhood and conjugal journey an open book from day one.
Keys and Beatz have been married for more than a decade!
"To have time to spend with my family and my son, it's like perspectives change a bit," said the singer while explaining her shifting priority from work to her family. The musical pair were blessed with another son in December 2017. It goes without saying that the couple has since taken their relationship to work as well and shown immense support for one another's ventures, and feats.
Get to Know Alicia Keys' Husband and Her Sons!
Keys is a renowned name all around the globe. With over ten Grammys under her belt and some of the most women-empowering songs, including Girl On Fire, You Don't Know My Name, Underdog, etc., in her discography, Alicia's name requires little to no introduction.
But her husband, Swizz Beatz, real name, Kasseem Dean, who isn't exactly a mainstream face, might require some introduction. The bald-headed hunk, who has nabbed the stunning songstress for over a decade, is no joke. He is actually one of the influential producers in the industry.
Being a producer may not guarantee much upfront fame, but Beatz's decade-long career is as stellar if not more than A-list performing artists. Dean catapulted to massive acclaim with his collaborations with rap legend DMX, Ruff Ryders, Whitney Houston, and even Beyonce.
Dean's most famous collaborations include Party Up, Millions Dollar Bill, Lost Yo Mind, Ring the Alarm, and a lot more. His illustrious career has garnered him six Grammy nominations. Before settling down with Keys for good, Kasseem was married to singer Mashonda Tifrere, with whom he shares his three oldest kids.
Fast forward to 2023, Keys, her husband, and her ex-wife have all moved forward from their uncomfortable past, and have formed a blended family. Shining light on her amicable situation with her husband's former family, Keys even penned her heartfelt feelings in her 2016 hitmaker, Blended Family.
"I feel like the family is such a beautiful and diverse unit and — as we've all experienced — families come in all different sizes and shapes," said the ever-vocal singer. Keys shares sons Egypt, 12, and Genesis, 8, with her Grammy-nominated husband. Lucky for Alicia and Swizz, their kids have got the best of their talented parents.
As per Beatz, Egypt is a creative scion in the making. The producer once shared that his son was only six when he penned his first song called Super-Boy. A young Egypt made his stage debut alongside Keys at the iHeart Radio Music Awards in 2019 and even recorded his first song, a cover of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, with Keys in 2021.
Alicia's youngest, Genesis, is a recurring face on both of his parents. Besides inheriting his parents' musical flairs, the kid, who is known to be a big Taylor Swift fan, comes off as the adventurous one of the brood. Alicia is also a bonus mother to Beatz's three kids from his first marriage; Prince, 22, a singer, Kasseem Jr., 16, and Nicole, 15.
