Actress Suzanne Somers is dead at 76: The actress leaves behind her husband and three kids!
Actress Suzanne Somers, best known for her roles as Chrissy Snow on the sitcom Three's Company, and Carol Lambert on Step by Step, is no more. The actress passed away a day before her 77th birthday on 15 October. Insiders shared that Somers died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born Suzanne Marie Mahoney on October 16, 1946, in San Bruno, California, she became a household face in the 80s, playing the iconic Chrissy on Three's Company. Also a singer, businesswoman, and author, Somers' take on an unconventional alternative medical approach often made her the recipient of fans' harsh criticism. She is survived by her beloved husband and kids.
Inside Suzanne Somer's Personal Life!
Somers fought some hard battles in her personal life. In addition to her two-decade-long battle with an aggressive form of breast cancer, the Step by Step actress also defeated hyperplasia, and skin cancer early in her career. The late actress, however, was lucky in love. Somers' marriage with her husband, Alan Hamel, was a successful journey.
Somers' now-widower, television host Hamel, 87, mourns his loving wife's death after a prolonged health battle and recalls their first encounter. In his exclusive interview with People, Hamel looks back on the year 1969 when he was hosting the syndicated game show, The Anniversary Game, where Somers had landed a gig as a prize model.
"I look over on the other side of the stage, and I see the most incredible woman I've ever seen in my life. And I thought, 'I have to go over there and talk to her,'" Hamel shares. The couple enjoyed slow love, dating each other for years, and eventually reaching a significant milestone in their love life.
The two purchased a private retreat in Palm Springs, California, in 1977, and exchanged their vows the same year. The actress and the talk show host became inseparable from the get-go, with the two blending their families- Suzane had one son from her first marriage, and Hamel had two kids with his first wife.
Despite their huge age differences, Hamel being ten years older than Somer, the couple's bond was as easy as it was genuine. During the course of their decades-long marriage, Somers and Hamel even joined forces in the business as the Anniversary Game host took on as Suzzane's manager in the early 80s.
The spouses's collaborated infomercial, Thighmaster, was an iconic moment in the duo's career and personal trajectory. Their journey, like any other couple, wasn't without a few bumps, and in Somers and Hamel's case, some major obstacles. Somers' husband called the day the actress received her cancer diagnosis the saddest day of his life. "It was like a black cloud descended," Alan said.
The duo's consistent efforts in their relationship, and leaning on each other during the crisis was what got them through the tragedies. "I can't imagine a night without him. It sounds corny, but we are one," the Three's Company actress gushed in one of the many interviews. In recent years, the power couple gave fans unlimited access to their conjugal life.
From heartfelt advice, and the inner workings of their marriage, to their thriving sex life, Somers and Hamel bared it all. "God, our relationship has always been amazing, but now that our kids are raised, and it's just me and Al, and Man, are we having fun," Somers said while talking about her kinky conjugal life.

Hamel was the driving force behind Suzanne's multi-faceted career throughout the years. Despite his notable contribution to Somers' career and public image, Hamel is known to fans as the late actress's husband. Alan, however, boasts an interesting profile that makes him a star in his own right.
Born on June 30, 1936, in Toronto, Ontario, Alan's hosting credits include Razzle Dazzle, which he co-hosted for years in his early career, Wedding Party, The Merv Griffin Show, and Anniversary Game. Besides his several hosting gigs, Hamel also dabbled in producing and acting alongside his famous wife.
The former talk show host recounted his wife's final days, which he described as both emotional and a peaceful process. "I was staying up most of the night just talking to her," Alan said, adding, "It was very peaceful, and that's the way it all went." The Step By Step actress is also survived by her son, Bruce Somers Jr., whom she welcomed with her first husband, Bruce Somers.

Somers' son, Bruce Jr., 57, is the founder of two media companies, Somers & Somers Productions and Quigley-Simpson. He has been married to chef and cookbook author Caroline Somers, with whom Bruce shares two daughters. The late actress was also a bonus mother to Hamel's two kids, Leslie, a costume designer, and Stephen, a producer.
Somers shared a tight bond with her stepkids for the most part of her marriage with Hamel, but that wasn't the case in the beginning. The actress once shared how her hard relationship with Hamel's kids almost broke her marriage. "We battled for years before we became united," Somers explained.
