Zander Ryan McCready

Zander Ryan McCready is the son of late country singer Mindy McCready and father William Patrick "Billy" McKnight. Ryan was born on March 25, 2006, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was bought into a unstable mother, Mindy. She had attempted suicide while pregnant with him, and after he was born.

Zander also has a half brother, Zyane Wilson, from his mother's relationship with David Wilson. The 14-year-old started living with his father after his mother's death. But this wouldn't be straight forward as his father had to win his custody in court.

How did his parents get to know each other?

Zander's parents met after his mother's failed engagement with Dean Cain. Zander's mother, Mindy met his father Billy in December 2003; Billy was an aspiring singer at the time. But their relation wouldn't last as Billy was arrested for attempted murder on May 8, 2005 when he beat and chocked Mindy.

Even though the couple had such a bad relationship the first time, they found love again with each other. After getting together the second time, Mindy got pregnant with Zander.

While Mindy was still pregnant with Zander, she attempted suicide by overdosing on anti-depressants. And once again, after he was born, she cut her self. His mother survived the second time and eventually broke up.

Zander's late mother had an estimated net worth of around $200,000 at the time of her death. The country singer had earned money from her singing career and a few TV appearances.

Zander's mother's career began as a prominent singer, and further, she sold around 2 million copies of her first album, "Ten Thousand Angels," and earned around $2 million.  She also sold an additional 1 million copies of her records "If I Don't Stay the Night" and "I am Not So Tough," earning an estimated $1 million.

Furthermore, she earned an additional $1 million in the late 90s from her other record sales. She also lived in her Heber Springs home, which could be worth anywhere between $155,000 to $4.8 million.

Being the elder son of Mindy, Zander surely inherits some of her wealth along with his brother Zyane.

Growing up with Troubled a Parent

Zander's mother wasn't shy of trouble and was unstable with multiple suicide attempts. For these reasons, the legal custody of Zander was given to his grandmother and her husband.

In late 2011, Mindy kidnapped her son Zander and went on the run. She took the then 5-year old Zander and fled to Arkansas. She was found by authorities hiding in a closet with Zander, as reported by CNN.

Loss of His Mother

Zander became part of a media scrum and court battle again in his young life. He would not be as lucky as Mary Louise Szekely to grow up with both parents. On February 17, 2013, Zander's mother was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at her home. This came just five weeks after her boyfriend David Wilson's death.

This again put Zander and his half brother Zyane in foster care. After this incident, his father, Billy, had to fight in court to win his custody. The 14-year-old has since been living with his father.
