The Teenage Love turned into a Marital Affair!

It was the summer party in 2006 when the couple first opened up with each other. After some initial conversation, the pair went out for a date and began seeing each other. Their love grew over time but also faced a lot of challenges on the way.

After high school, both of them faced long-distance relationship trouble because of their college choices. Ashton never gave up and changed three Universities so that she could be near to her lover. 

Finally, in 2011, Meem graduated in communications and worked in various jobs before making her move at American Family Insurance. Meanwhile, Russell played college football before getting drafted in 2012 by Seattle Seahawks. Prior to the NFL Draft, on January 12, 2012, the couple tied the knot at the Country Club of Virginia. 

The Presidential Suite Proposal...

After facing some challenges because of their college choices, the couple finally decided to get married. Russel put an engagement ring on Ashton's finger in 2010 after proposing her in the most romantic way. 

Wilson took Meem to the Umstead Hotel and Spa. He booked a presidential suite in which Russel took his lover blindfolded. As soon as he removed her blindfold, a dog came running towards her. The Seattle Seahawks footballer posted a message for Ashton in the dogs' collar which read,

"Hey Mom, Dad has a question he wants to ask you".

Meem rushed to the balcony with a surprised look on her face. She wanted to find out about the question he wanted to ask. Instead, she found Russel on his one knee on the balcony with an 8 Carat diamond ring. Wilson popped a big question to which she said, 'Yes', and they were ready to share the news with the whole world.

The Chilly Winter Wedding...

On January 12, 2012, before his NFL draft, the couple walked down the aisle in an intimate wedding ceremony. The couple booked the venue at the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church for the nuptials. 

For the big day, Ashton arrived in a strapless gown prepared by J. Crew with little changes made by LK Design. Not just that, the bridesmaid also had a special dress prepared by Amsale. After the matrimony, Meem and Wilson throw away a lavish party at The Country Club of Virginia. 

For the wedding reception, the organizers kept an icy pale blue light designed by Blue Steel Lighting Design. Furthermore, the pair got their first dance on the music performed by Big Swing and the Ballroom Blasters.

The Golden Tate Affair and the Divorce!

Wilson filed for the divorce from his wife Ashton in 2014. The couple was only two years into their blissful married life, so the news of split came as a surprise for almost everyone. Even in an interview with KIRO-FM, Meem did not give any hint about the problems in her marital life.

Just four months after the interview, Wilson filed for the separation. Neither Russel nor Ashton provided any reasons for the surprise news but on online platforms, the news about Ashtons' infidelity started circulating. The rumors about her extra-marital affair with Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate ending her marriage started floating around.

As expected those rumors were completely false as Tate confirmed with an interview with TMZ. Despite Meem's affair turned out to be false, the couple still ended their relationship in 2014. 

Current Status...

As of now, Ashton is single and focused on her career as Advertising Operations Assistant. On the other hand, Russell tied the knot with singer Ciara on July 6, 2016. From his relationship with Ciara, Wilson became the father to a daughter and also a son from Ciara's past relationship.

Russell after the divorce went on to become more popular for brands as they could target more to his younger and women fans. His shirt sale skyrocketed surpassing the record previously held by Peyton Manning.
