After leaving the Army, Cully joined the Pittsburg Police Department as an officer in 2003. Further, he served with the City of Rio Vista and later became the public information officer of the Solano County Sheriff's Office.

Cully is the head of a nonprofit organization called, Solano Family First Responders. The center helps first-responders with an outlet to socialize and receive support.
