Danny was born on 7th February 1974 in Eton, Buckinghamshire, England. Born to his English parents, Chris Goffey and mother, he is of White ethnicity and holds British nationality. Goffey's father is a monitoring journalist and former presenter of Top Gear, and mother is an ex-Labour Party councillor. He grew up along with his brother Nick Goffey.
Danny spent his childhood in Berkshire. When he was thirteen, he shifted to Oxfordshire village of Forest Hill. Goffey joined Wheatly Park School, where he met Gaz Coombes. He was two year junior than Danny.
Goffey asked Gaz Combees to form a band with him (The Jennifers). In 1993, Danny and Gaz shared a house on Cowley road in south Oxford. However, Danny gave equal priorities to his study too. He completed A-levels at Henley College. Moreover, Goffey also served as a catering assistant in a school.
The same year, Combees intorduced Danny to Mick Quinn, who worked at a local Harvester. Soon, the Danny, Gaz, and Mick began playing together. After jamming for several months Supergrass (previously Theordore Supergrass) was formed.
The band had a good start with their debut album I Should Coco which peaked at number one in UK Albums Chart. Supergrass were together and recorded their album titled Release the Drones, slated for release in 2010. However the album remained unfinished and unreleased, later on 12th April 2010, the band announced of their split due to creative and musical differences.
After the split, Danny Goffey and Gaz Combees collaborated with other musicians such as Paul Weller to record a charity song titled Consequences for the charity crisis.
Besides his musical career, Goffey also appeared as a participant in the sixth series of Celebrity Masterchef aired via BBC One. He reached to the semi-finals.
