David first married a cookery writer, Josceline Dimbleby in 1967. David and his first wife shared three children; Liza, Henry, and Kate. Well, Liza is an artist, Henry is a chef and co-founder of the fast food chain called Leon, while, Katie is a Jazz and folk singer.

Sadly, David and Josceline divorced in 1993 after 26 years of marital solidarity. Afterward, Dimbleby married Belinda Giles, granddaughter of  Herbrand Sackville, 9th Earl De La Warr. For your information, Herbrand was the first hereditary peer to join the Labour Party and became a government minister at the age of 23.

David has a son named Fred with his second wife. The Dimbleby family resides in Polegate, east Sussex, England.
