Who is Desmond Chiam?

Desmond Chiam is an Australian actor, well known as General Riga in the television series The Shannara Chronicles. He is also recognized for his credit in the movie Betterman as hong. 

Chiam was born in 1989 in Melbourne, Australia. His parents are of Singaporean and Chinese descent. As per his ethnicity is concerned, Desmond is of Asian ethnicity and holds Australian nationality. 

Desmond spent three years in Singapore during his early days, due to his father's work.

Since his small age Chiam was very intelligent, he received his law degree at the University of Melbourne and later received his Master's Degree in Screenwriting via University of Southern California. Moreover, Desmond also became CLEO Singapore's Bachelor of the year 2011.

With a passion of becoming a lawyer, Desmond began his career as a lawyer after completing his university. However, he was not satisfied being a lawyer and quit after three months. Later, Chiam learned acting and break dance. 

Desmond's acting career began portraying in Australian short films, before appearing in the television series like Better man and Neighbours. In order to forward his acting career Chiam shifted to Los Angeles. 

In 2017, Desmond made his appearance in the television series The Shannara Chronicles. Additionally, he also portrayed as Avon Jogia in the Starz series Now Apocaplyse. 

His recent work includes portrayal in the ABC and M6's summer crime series Reef Break.
