Todd Chrisley is a well-known television personality and real estate tycoon. He has garnered staggering fame and wealth via his long-running eponymous show, Chrisley Knows Best. Despite the burgeoning success, Chrisley has attracted a lot of negative attention over the years and it won't be wrong to suggest that the television star has officially hit rock bottom.  

Often in the news for his excessive family drama, Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were sentenced to nineteen years in prison on charges of bank fraud, and tax evasion last year. The pair are serving their first year of the long sentence and are still in touch with their family outside.

Todd and Julie's lavish lifestyle and their career, including their television empire, are all in the past. The once fan-favorite television couple is struggling behind bars for their years of federal crime. Ahead is a rundown on the couple's journey from becoming household faces to ending as convicted criminals.   

Todd's relationship with Julie came at the heels of his first divorce from Teresa Terry, his high school sweetheart, with whom he was married for six years. Todd and Julie tied the knot in 1996 and set off to cement their remarkable presence on television and real estate.  

The Chrisley couple welcomed three kids in the years following their wedding. But the road to success and stability wasn't without some setbacks. Todd's beloved wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. As per Julie, they kicked the distressing period with as much rigor and intimacy, and as a result, took their relationship to a whole new level.   

The couple's first reality show, Chrisley Knows the Best, premiered in March 2014. The USA Network show focused on the Chrisley family's wealthy lifestyle. The latest season, 10th, debuted in February 2023, but the show's future hangs still following the pair's arrest.  

The couple's successful reality show also spawned several spin-offs, like According to Chrisley, Growing Up Chrisley, and What's Cooking With Julie Chrisley. And while exhibiting an inseparable, wealthy, and moreover, judicious image, Todd and Julie kept the darker reality wrapped.   

Troubled first knocked on their paradise in August 2019; the television stars were indicted for tax evasion and bank fraud; charges they vehemently denied until the end. It would later come to a revelation that the famous pair, allegedly struggling financially behind the screen, borrowed over $30 million from banks. 

Todd and Julie were found guilty and convicted of several tax crimes in November 2022. Todd was ordered twelve years in prison with three years of probation period, and Julie got sentenced to seven years with three years of supervised release.    

Todd is reportedly feeling guilty for letting his greed get the best of him! 

An insider recently gave an update on the duo's life in prison. The source claimed that Chrisley Knows the Best star feels extremely guilty for "allowing his greed to get the better of him." The insider said, "he is not a happy camper on the inside like he was on the outside."

The former television stars and now disgraced celebrities bid their children, and grandchildren goodbye following their sentence. The convicted couple has five kids and two grandkids, all of whom continue to live their less-than-normal life as their guardians bear the consequences of their years-long crime.  

The Chrisley Knows the Best pair are parents to three biological kids, Chase Chrisley, Savannah Chrisley, and Grayson Chrisley. The real estate tycoon is also a father to two kids, Lindsie, and Kyle, from his first marriage with Teresa. The 54-year-old previously stated that despite the unfortunate events, his family will stand firm together.   

Todd's oldest, Lindsie, had a brief stint in her father's reality show in 2014. Lindsie has since had a love-and-hate relationship with Todd. She severed her ties with Todd after he started attracting tax evasion allegations in 2017. Lindsie shares a son with her ex-husband, Will Campbell. 

Despite having a strained relationship with her dad, Lindsie showed immense concern at Todd's sentence. "Papa & Mimi, we love you, we stand with you, trust you," she wrote in a lengthy caption. Todd's second child from his first marriage, Kyle, shares a similar, if not worse relationship with Todd.  

Kyle's battle with his grim mental health and substance abuse was well documented in the family's reality show. Although Kyle has since long recovered and bettered his ties with Todd, the television star and his wife obtained full custody of their granddaughter, Kyle's daughter, Chloe, last year.   

Todd, however, seemingly shares an ideal relationship with his three youngest kids. The Chrisley couple's oldest of the three, Chase, starred in Growing Up Chrisley. Chase is an aspiring actor and also an entrepreneur. He owns a candle business, Chase Chrisley Collection. 

Todd and Julie's second daughter, Savannah, was also a star in her parents' reality show, and like her brother, is a booming entrepreneur. Savannah has so far started a beauty line called Sassy By Savannah Chrisley, and a clothing collection called HSN.com. The disgraced couple's youngest-born, Grayson, 17, is a high schooler.
