Jurnee Smollett is an American actress who came to spotlight after starring as a child actress Jordee Jerrico in ABC's TV series, On Our Own in 20 episodes. It ran from September 13, 1994, until April 14, 1995.
Later, Smollett received critical acclaim after portraying the character of Eve in the 1997 independent drama film Eve's Bayou. From 2009 to 2011, she starred as Jess Merriweather in Friday Night Lights and as Lisa Tyler in CBS drama The Defenders from 2010 to 2011.
