Kyan Douglas (birth name Hugh Edward Douglas) is an American stylist who gained fame through the TV show Queer Eye where he worked from 2003 to 2007. He holds the title of grooming expert on the show.

The famous stylist was born on May 5, 1970, in Miami, Florida, USA. Kyan goes by the nickname, Eddie.

Has Made A Fortune Through Television

Kyan Douglas is a well-known figure among Hollywood celebrities. He has managed to make a lot of income through his work. His long-running, thriving career has led him towards much monetary success. The stylist's net worth stands at $4 million.

A large chunk of his net income came from his highly viewed TV show, Queer Eye, where he worked from 2003 to 2007. At one point, he was getting paid $8000 for just an episode in the show.

Looks Good For His Age

Kyan has aged like a fine wine. The man hardly ages. Looking at first glance, no one could tell the man had been on this planet for over half a century. He was born in the 70s and could still give stiff competition to actors in their 30s like Jacob Fortune Lloyd.

Kyan could easily pass off as a model. The slim-built gentleman stands at 5 ft 10 inches (178 cm). He hasn't let himself go and seems to spend a good amount exercising and eating the right food as he weighs 60 kg (132 lbs).

He loves his grey beard and never shaves, although he regularly trims it and takes good care of his health. His grey beard goes well with his shoulder-length brown hair.

Close To His Sister Kelli

Kyan is not the only child of his parents. He has a sister as well. His sister's name is Kelli. Both are on good terms with each other.

Kyan owes all of his success as a fashion stylist to his sister. His sister gave him the knowledge and skills of styling hair.

Has Studied From Multiple Institutions

Kyan developed an interest in Arts and Literature at a very young age. This also led to creating his interest in philosophy. So, he studied philosophy at Brookhaven College in Dallas, North Texas.

Apart from philosophy, his interests in movies and television led him to study them. He went to the University of Texas (the same University as Politician Kay Bailey Hutchinson graduated from) and Loyola University to study acting and television.

Has Love for God & Religion

Kyan may come across to some as someone who stays away from all kinds of religion. As a homosexual man (a community that religious people do not readily accept), it is surprising to know that Kyan is interested in religion and believes in god.

He is entirely on board with the concept of spirituality. He was once quoted saying:

Ever since I was young, I was always interested in exploring spirituality. I know that there are many paths to God, there is not just one path.

Kyan Is Active On Instagram

Like other celebrities, Kyan has an account on Instagram. He may not posts on it every day, but he regularly updates about his life. You can find him on Instagram at @kyandouglas.

He uses Instagram to post pictures and as a platform to voice the social issues he believes in.

Dealing With Homosexuality As A Kid

Homosexuals have to deal with a lot even today. Now, imagine Kyan, who grew up in the 70s when openly coming out as a gay would make your life a living hell.

He had to go through a lot growing up. Even though he was explicit about his sexual orientation since his young days, he never told about it to anyone. He kept this a secret from high school friends to the extent that he even dated girls.

Despite growing up in such a hostile environment, he has no animosity towards straight people, particularly men. He is good friends with a lot of straight men. Regarding it, he said:

I enjoy my relationship with straight men. It's very nurturing. It's very validating to hang out with straight guys and be accepted. So many of us, we were not accepted when we were younger by straight persons in high school.

Dating History of Kyan

Kyan Douglas has been in a couple of relationships in the past. The grooming guru is confident about his sexuality and is always only looking to be in a serious relationship. He only dates those with whom he sees a future.

He only dates those who are on the same page as him. His relationship with Robert Grant only lasted for a while, most probably because they had a lot of differences and compatibility issues. They started seeing each other in 2003 and only were together for a couple of months. Both are still friends with each other.

Kyan's relationship with Gregory Durham, however, lasted a lot longer. They began their relationship in March 2004, and both were very serious about their relationship. Kyan wanted to marry him, and both were engaged for a while before ending the relationship in August 2006.

Maya: Kyan's Adorable Dog

Kyan spends a lot of his time with his dog, Maya. His Instagram is filled with her posts. He loves calling her his queen. In one of his Instagram posts, He has taken Maya to see the Sunrise early in the morning. The post says:

Maya and I are happy to report that the sun did rise on time today. 6:37am on the dot. And we got this cute selfie.

On his Instagram, you can find him talking about the rights of the LGBTQ community. When the US Supreme Court extended protection to LGBTQ workers, he shared a post with the caption that said.

I am shocked! Wow. Thank you SCOTUS us Also Happy Pride Y’all.

He also supports the Black Lives Matter movement, which fights against the racial discrimination the black community faces in the US. He even participated in the protests and thanked all those who joined him on his Instagram.

Thank you to those who show up and protest. You inspire.

Took Retirement From Television

Kyan has now retired from television. After such a long and prosperous television career, he announced his retirement while appearing on a popular chat show Rachel Ray.

The news came as a shock for his fans, who loved watching him in Queer Eye. He announced his retirement by saying:

I am retiring from the television business at last, I just feel ready to move on to something else. I don't know what that is yet, but things come to an end, and the universe will fill a void. It's time to step away and see what's next for me.
