Lembit Opik was born on March 2, 1965, in Bangor, Down, Northern Ireland. His parents were from Estonia, but later they fled to Northern Ireland. His parents Liivi Opik and physicist Dr. Uno Opik raised him alongside sister Urve Opik and brother Endel Tal Opik.

Opik graduated with a degree in Philosophy from University of Bristol. Also, he served as the President of the University of Bristol Union and as a member of the National Executive of the National Union of Students.

Lembit Opik successfully stood as the Liberal Democrat candidate at the 1997 general election. He also served as the Liberal Democrat spokesman on education, Northern Island, Wales, business, and housing. Moreover, he became leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats in 2001 and stood down in 2007. Some of the politicians who are also famous in public attention are Bernie Sanders and James Rubin.

Opik lost his seat in parliament at the 2010 general election. Later in 2012 he joined Leadenhall Consulting, an HR consulting firm and in 2013, he joined MAG as director of communications and public affairs.

Lembit Opik was in a relationship with a Welsh television presenter and meteorologist, Sian Lloyd from 2002-2006. For your information, Sian is the United Kingdom's longest-serving female weather reporter, who appeared on ITV Weather for 24 years, from 1990-2014.

Opik and Lloyd engaged in 2004 and lived together at a house they bought in Newtown, Powys. They were due to marry in 2006.The couple also appeared on Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? winning $78,582 for charity. Sadly, in December 2006, their relationship fell down.

After breaking up with longtime fiancee, Sian Lloyd, Lembit began dating then 24-years-old, Gabriela Irimia of pop music double-act The Cheeky Girls. However, on November 8, 2017, Vankova dumped Opik publically on Twitter. The main reason for dumping Opik was that he spent a night at reality star Alex Best's house. Shortly, the 33-year, lawyer, Sabina fled back to her home, Bulgaria with their child.

Well, Opik felt distraught after his girlfriend moved back to Bulgaria. In an interview he revealed that he felt depressed worse than a heartbreak. So, what is their present condition? Well, it is a relief for Opik that Vankova has now forgiven him.
