According to the Feds, the devices were used in an espionage attack. The Feds took back their device leaving Haniss empty-handed. 

The Couple Sued the Boeing

According to the Blast, Haniss and her spouse sued the Boeing as they wanted to recover their loss of $6,900. Digital Receiver Technology made the device.

At present, the device is in federal custody. The lawsuit is still running, whereas the Homeland Security and the US Attorney in Maryland has nothing to say regarding this.
