Paul Ryan is a Republican Congressman. He has represented the United States House of Representatives as a 54th speaker from October 2015 to January 2019. Also in January 2015, he was named chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. 

From 2011 to 2015, Ryan worked as head of the House Budget Committee and is regarded as a fiscally conservative member of his party. He served as Mitt Romney's vice-presidential running partner in the 2012 presidential election, although Romney eventually lost to Democratic President Barack Obama.

Paul Davis Ryan was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, on January 29, 1970, as the youngest of four children to Elizabeth Ann, an interior designer, and Paul Murray Ryan, a lawyer. The leader was born and raised in Wisconsin, and he is a fifth-generation Wisconsinite.
