Emmy Award winner Rehema Ellis is well-known among the viewers as an American television journalist for NBC News based in New York City, New York. Also, she serves in NBC News as the lead education correspondent.
Rehema Ellis was born in 1954 in the southeastern part of North Carolina. She holds American nationality and belongs to American-African ethnicity. Though she was born on North Carolina most of her childhood was spent in Boston, Massachusetts.
Regarding her education, she joined Simmons College located in Boston and later Ellis graduated in Journalism from Columbia University School of Journalism situated in New York City.
Before serving as a lead education correspondent in the NBC news. She served on several other television stations. Ellis officially began her broadcasting career at KDKA-TV and Radio based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Later, Ellis also worked as an anchor and reporter in WHDH-TV based in Boston.
In 1994 Ellis joined NBC News as a general assignment reporter. Also, during her nineteen years of broadcasting with NBC News, she has covered on a wide range of topics including 2001 September 11 attack on the World Trade Center, 2004 Summer Olympic Games held in Greece, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, 2008 Barack Obama presidential election, and the death of prominent American singer Michael Jackson in 2009.
Later in 2010, Ellis was promoted as the lead education correspondent where she covered the report on educational topics and is the main reporter for the NBC Education Nation summit.
Through her dedication and devotion in her broadcasting career, Ellis obtained several awards including Emmy Awards, Associated Press awards, National Association of Black Journalists as well as awards from the Edward R. Murrow Awards through her decade of hardships.
