If you're interested in journalism, you might have heard the name, Richard Engel. He is an American journalist who is widely known as an NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondent. Likewise, he is famous for covering international issues such as the Iraq War, The Syrian, Civil War, and The Arab Spring. Richard married his long-term girlfriend, Mary Forrest aka Mary K. Forrest. She is a former producer known for her credit for the show named Martha Stewart. And coincidentally, Richard was a guest in the same show back in 2010.

After the first meeting, Engel and Forrest fell in love and started to date. Happily, the five years of the love bond turned into matrimonial life as they finally tied the knot on 29th May 2015. Blessed with Two Children

NBC chief foreign correspondent and his producer wife are the proud parents of two kids. Henry Thomas Engel is the first son of Engel and Forrest who was born on September 2015. 

Recently on August 2019,  Richard and Mary welcomed another baby boy their second child, Theodore Forrest Engel. After the birth of Theodore, Engel and his wife were congratulated by his co-workers, such as Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin on Today show.

Richard's Son Suffered from Rett Syndrome

Over the year, it's been so challenging for the blissful couple to take care of their elderly child Thomas. Well, the four years old Henry is suffering from Rett Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder, where for the first time Engel called Dada. 

Although Rett syndrome has no cure, the couple has seven types of physical therapy per week to assist Henry mentally and physically. Now, they are quite open about how the couple has dealt with their son having this disorder.

Previous Marital Life

As per some sources, Richard Engel was previously married to his college mates or his first wife whom he met at Stanford University. Sadly, the name of his mysterious wife is not mentioned anywhere. The former lovebirds divorced in 2005 due to some irreconcilable issues.

Journalism Career and Recognition

After graduation, Richard Engel started working in Cairo as a freelance reporter and served there for more than four years. After that, he served as Middle East Correspondent for the renowned WGBH Radio Station for two years from 2001 to 2003.

NBC's reporter also worked for USA Today and ABC News at the same time. He then decided to cover the Iraq War news at the moment. Because of his dedication and hard work paid off lead him to become the Senior Middle East correspondent on the famous news channel called NBC News.
