Tara was born as Tara Lyn Strong on February 12, 1973, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Tara was born among the two children born to Syd Charendoff and his wife, Lucy Charendoff. Her family emigrated from Russia after the Anti-Jewish movement started in the Russian Empire and settled in Canada.
