Tony was born on 21st October 1959, in Brooklyn, New York, the United States of America, where another actor and author Armin Shimerman was also born. Born to his American parents, Ganios is of White ethnicity and holds American nationality. Moreover, there is no information about his family background. 

Talking about his educational background, Tony must've attended his high school and university, however, there are no exact details. 

At the early age of eighteen, Ganios was enrolled in the film industry. His uncle Pete told him to leave the power-lifting session to audition for a role in the movie.

He kicked off his acting career portraying as Perry in The Wanderers and gained considerable attention. In 1982, Ganios was featured in the 1982 cult teen-sex comedy Porky's and its sequel Porky's Revenge along with co-stars including Dan Monahan, Wyatt Knight and more. Additionally, he has also made an appearance in the 1990 film Die Hard 2 as Baker, who is a member of a terrorist.

Ganios is also famous for his appearance in television series. He has played in five episodes of 1980 television series Wiseguy as Mike Mooch. Moreover, Tony made a guest appearance in the chapter of Scarecrow and Mrs. King.

Tony Ganios semi-retired from acting after Die Hard 2 to be an insurance agent. Later in 2012, Ganios reunited with the co-stars from the movie Porky's to launch a kick-starter campaign to produce teen-sex comedy to be called Daddies' Girls.

As of 2017, the movie has not been produced.
