Ever heard of the word "Polygamous Church"? Not many know these churches even exist, but they do. Polygamous Churches are religious sects that practice having multiple spouses at the same time. Charlene Wall Jeffs is the former wife of the leader of a Polygamous Church called FLDS Church.

Charlene was one of nine wives of the former Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS) president and leader, Lyle Jeffs. A Church is supposed to be a place for worship, but in the case of the FLDS Church, it is otherwise. Learn more about FLDS and the troubles faced by Charlene Wall Jeffs.

Charlene's Relationship with Lyle Jeffs

The relationship between Charlene and Lyle was not a pretty one. Lyle Jeffs was the president and leader of FLDS Church, a Polygamous Church. The church practiced unorthodox and illegal activities in the name of spirituality.

Being part of a polygamous church, Lyle reportedly had nine wives. Charlene was one of Lyle's wives, but she was legally married to Lyle back in 1983. Charlene was the first "spiritual wife" out of nine at 18.

The couple were in a relationship for more than 31 years before she divorced her husband, Bishop Lyle, in 2015. She filed a divorce lawsuit with her husband, citing sexual assault and illegal practices within the sect. Charlene has ten children with her former husband and is trying to get custody of her two children.

Charlene Was Not Allowed to See Her Children

Charlene was part of the FLDS church, and her husband, Lyle, was the leader. Lyle and Charlene had ten children. The sect leader did not like Charlene as she was "open-minded." Due to this, Lyle would punish Charlene.

In a petition filed earlier this month and obtained by The Salt Lake Tribune, Charlene stated:

'Of Lyle's multiple wives, I was never the favorite because I have a mind of my own. Lyle sent me away from the family to repent for the first time in November 2002 because ''I did not know how to properly treat the Priesthood in my life''.'

Charlene was forced to let her children go because her husband deemed it so. The unorthodox practices and activities were too hard for Charlene to digest. Because of this, Charlene filed for divorce and officially gained her freedom in 2015. However, she is still trying to get custody of her two children.

Few Details About the Unorthodox Chruch, FLDS

Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or simply FLDS, is a church that practices polygamy. This church was created back in the 1930s by J. Leslie Broadbent. Late the church was run by Rulon Jeffs, father of Lyle.

The church followed a practice where one would have multiple wives. In the case of Rulon, he had a total of 65 wives and 65 children. Out of those children, Warren Jeffs and Lyle Jeffs served as the leaders.

The church followed a rather vulgar practice where the wives would copulate with other males who were called "seed bearers." This unorthodox practice continued till the reign of Lyle. Charlene almost went through the same method. She divorced Lyle before she was made to follow the church's practices.

Charlene's Life After Divorce

Charlene finally got freedom from the FLDS and her husband in 2015. However, she was excommunicated or banished from the church in 2012. Unfortunately, she did not get custody of her two children: a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl.

Knowing the practices the church followed, Chalene was scared that her two children would be sexually harassed by her husband. She fought for custody of her two children. Fortunately, the court granted joint custody of her children in April 2015.

Charlene now lives quietly in Hildale, Utah, away from the FLDS. She has changed her views on loyalty to the church and is concentrating on raising her children outside the FLDS community. Furthermore, she gets child support from her former husband, worth $1600 following their divorce.

Charlene Jeffs' Net Worth

After Charlene divorced her husband, Lyle, she lived a life far away from the media and the FLDS. After she was banished from the church, her life became miserable. She lived very poorly and was reported to have dived into dumpsters for food. Due to her private lifestyle, there is no publicly available information on her current net worth.

On the other hand, her former husband has at least $2 Million in net worth, similar to Geoff Cutmore. Being the leader of FLDS, he allegedly earned most of his earnings through illegal means. As an FLDS bishop, Lyle had a lot of money. The Jeff family was considered like the British Royal Family in the church, and they even had their own "secret service."

Even though her net worth is not known, she does get money as child support.  Jeffs agreed to contribute $1,000 per month in child support, which will decrease to $600 once the boy reaches 18.

Lyle will also cover the costs of the boy's education and medical needs, furnish a car, and provide up to $2,000 monthly to support two-thirds of Charlene Jeffs's housing expenses.
