Early Life And Adoption

David Banda was born on 24 September 2005 in Malawi, a Southeastern African country. As per sources, he was abandoned by his biological father, Yohane Banda, while his mother died after giving birth to him. 

The nursing home sisters handed him to an orphanage, the Home of Hope, located in the Mchinji district. 

With fate, Madonna visited the orphanage a month later while she was touring for her charity. Madonna saw him suffering from pneumonia and was on the verge of death. As quickly as possible, the American singer filed for adoption and treated him as her own son. 

A year later, after all the official legalities with the Malawian government was over, Madonna got custody of the baby on 10 October 2006. She and her then-husband named her the child David Banda Mwale Ciccone Ritchie.

The Madonna family adopted David Banda like another celebrity, Kerri Browitt Caviezel who adopt two children. Along with David, Maddona has six children. 

Apparently, Banda has 5 siblings. Firstly, Rocco John Ritchie is from his mother's affair with Carlos Leon. And Lourdes Maria Leon is Madonna's biological child with her ex-spouse Guy Ritchie.

Back in 2018, David was awarded as the best performer in the Under 12 category in the Benfica Youth team's match. 

Just like his mother, David is also good at singing, dancing, and playing instruments. In an interview, he said that he enjoys playing guitar & keyboards and dancing most. 

Moreover, in response to George Floyd's murder, the continuous acts of racism and violence, David danced to Michael Jackson's protest song, They Don't Really Care About Us. 

In an interview with Vogue, Madonna shared that she and David have a special bond. She added: 

"What he has more than anything is focus and determination. I'm pretty sure he got that from me. He's the one I have the most in common with. I feel like he gets me; he has more of my DNA than any of my children so far. Let's see what happens — it's still early days for everyone."
