On 25th February 2017, the famous singer passed away when she was at her home in Washington. The singer passed away at the age of 63.

After the tragic demise, Canyn's fans, well-wishers, relatives, all mourned. Emi's funeral was preceded by her father, Floyd, and mother Eleanor, and sister Joan McMahan.

In late 1970, Canyn shifted to California to pursue her career in singing. She performed with many of her bands along with backup vocals during a tour with the band Motley Crue. 

Her ex-husband Mick Mars, on the other hand, is a famous American and lead guitarist for the band Motley Crue. At the early age of 9, Mars began playing for the group. Moreover, Mars also filed a case for an advertisement in a newspaper named The Recycler, which mentioned Mick to be an aggressive, loud, and rude guitarist.
