Salma Hayek was born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jiménez on September 2, 1966, in Veracruz, Mexico. Salma is among the two children born to Sami Hayek Domínguez and his wife, Diana Jiménez Medina. Her father is a businessman owning an industrial-equipment firm and is an oil company executive in Mexico, and her mother is an opera singer and talent scout. She attended university at the Universidad Iberoamericana, where she studied International Relations.
