Tisha Taylor Married To Charlie Murphy In 1997 And Divorced in 2009.

Chappelle's Show's star and stand-up comedian Charles aka Charlie Murphy's demise back 2017 was unbearable for his three kids. But Charlie himself had faced his beloved wife Tisha Taylor's death in 2009. Tisha died of cervical cancer which she was diagnosed two years earlier in 2007. Mo'Nique is also an American stand-up comedian just like Murphy.

How She Met Charlie?

According to sources, Tisha and Charlie met for the first time during a boat party. They were introduced by their mutual friends and the pair fell for each other right after. They began seeing each other occasionally then. 

Charlie even took her to his brother Eddie Murphy's house. Eddie is a Golden Globe Award nominee stand-up comedian, actor, and singer who is best known as the cast member of Saturday Night Live. Charlie once said;

We fit. I don’t believe that you can meet another person that fits just like that. She wasn’t even another person. She’s a mirror, you know what I mean. It was like that for twenty years.

Tisha made her wedding vows to Charlie on August 12, 1997. Charlie already had a child from his former relationship. Together, Tisha and Charlie share two younger kids. Being a full-time karate practitioner, Tisha's husband always managed to spare time for the family. 

After nearly three years of marriage, Charlie began his career on show business. In just a short period, Tisha and Charlie were regarded as the famed celebrity couple.

Tisha's Death Shattered her Blissful Marriage

When Charlie came back home one day, he found Tisha crying in their kids' room. That's when he found that his wife had cervical cancer. But Tisha proved herself a strong woman. She even arranged her funeral herself and organized everything to the details.

After long battling with cancer, Tisha finally took her last breath on December 13, 2009. After her demise, Charlie was never the same again. For Charlie, loosing the most loved person in life was unbelievable. In an interview with Vibe, he said;

I’m not okay; you’re never really okay you just learn to live with it. That’s something monumental, losing somebody that close in your life. It happened to my children, and me you don’t get used to it and you don’t get over it.

After Tisha's passing away, Charlie raised their children as a single dad. He remained a responsible father and a husband until he passed away on April 12, 2017, due to complications from leukemia. 

What was Tisha's Net Worth?

Tisha never revealed her professional career while she was alive and neither did late Charlie. But she might have owned over $4 million of net worth. But her husband was one of the highest-paid stand-up comedians of his time. 

He was once reported to have sold a screenplay titled-The Peddler to Paramount for $150,000. But the film remains unmade yet.
