Greg Marcks is an American film director and screenwriter who was born in Concord, Massachusetts, on August 12, 1976. The names of her father and mother remain unknown. Marcks grew raised in the Massachusetts town of Chelmsford. 

Marcks attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he studied creative writing and film. He created the student film festival and raised funds to direct short films via the non-profit Pittsburgh Filmmakers. He also interned at KDKA and WQED, where he got to work with none other than Fred Mister Rogers.

Marcks graduated from Florida State University's Film Conservatory in Tallahassee, Florida, with a master's degree in directing. His student Academy Award-winning picture Lector helped him acquire fame.
