Who is Rupert Murdoch?

Starting out as a newspaper publisher in his native Australia, Rupert Murdoch is the founder and head of the worldwide media conglomerate, News Corporation. In 1986, he founded Fox Broadcasting Company. 

Rupert Murdoch was born in Melbourne, Australia, on March 11, 1931. His dad Keith Murdoch was a renowned journal and war correspondent. Murdoch inherited the documents of his father, the Sunday Mail and the News, and over the years he continued to buy other media outlets. 

A well-respected journalist's son, Murdoch was groomed from a very young age to join the publication world. As for education, in 1949, Murdoch graduated from Geelong Grammar, a prestigious Australian boarding school. Then, he attended Worcester College at Oxford University in England.

When his dad unexpectedly passed away in 1952, Murdoch's fun-loving youthful ways came to an abrupt end. His father Keith left him, his Adelaide journals, the News and the Sunday Mail. Following a short apprenticeship at the Daily Express in London under Lord Beaverbrook in 1953, a 22-year-old Murdoch returned to Australia to take over the reins of his father's papers.

Murdoch immersed himself in all parts of the daily activities of the journals immediately after assuming control of the Sunday Mail and the News. He wrote headlines, redesigned page layouts, and worked in the rooms for printing and typing. 

Only three years later, in 1956, by buying the Perth-based Sunday Times, Murdoch extended his activities and refurbished it in the News sensationalist style.

During '80s Murdoch began expanding his media empire into television and entertainment. He purchased 20th Century Fox Film Corporation as well as several independent television stations in 1985. Likewise, consolidated these businesses into Fox, Inc., which has since become a significant American television network.

Such a huge business tycoon, outlet the news in June 2015 about his retirement from the media empire. Murdoch hand over 21st Century Fox's leadership to his son James Murdoch. As corporate co-chairman, Murdoch would stay with the organization, sharing the position with his eldest child, Lachlan Murdoch. Personal Life

As smooth as it seems his personal life, we cannot say the same about his personal life. Murdoch had a fair share of ups and downs regarding his personal life, and here we have split all the spicy details about his love life. 

Current Relationship

Rupert is currently a married man. He tied a nuptial knot with American model Jerry Hall. It is reported that the couple started to see each other in the summer of 2015. The couple whirlwind five-month romance in a full-fledged marriage.  The pair married London in March 2016. They later embarked on a French honeymoon. 

The most interesting fact is Hall was 60 years old, and Murdoch was 85 years old when they exchanged their wedding vows with each other. So, it's obvious that the couple do not share children. 

Both Rupert and Jerry are not active on any kind of social media site. So we cannot get the inside story of their personal life as much as their fans want. 

Rupert Murdoch and Patricia Booker (1956-1967)

Well, Rupert tied a knot to Patricia Booker when he was just 25 years old in 1956. His first wife Booker was a flight attendant, and the details about their encounter are still the matter of mystery. 

Booker, a beautiful blonde former department-store model, and American media mogul had an 11 years long marriage until 1967. The couple decided to part their ways from each other due to various misunderstanding. His first wife took her last breath on January 21, 2010. 

Rupert Murdoch and Anna Murdoch Mann (1967-1999)

Only after a year of his first failed marriage, Rupert decided to move on with Anna Murdoch Mann. So, in the same year 1967, Murdoch and Mann exchanged their wedding vows with each other. His second spouse was a Scottish journalist. 

When it comes to his loyalty towards his wives, Murdoch seems to be lacking a bit as he divorced his second wife only weeks before his wedding to his third partner. The couple allegedly divorced in 1999 after spending 32 years with her. 

Anna is also not active in any kind of social media site so that we can lay hands on her personal details. However, Anna also moved on from her first failed marriage to William Mann in 1999. 

Rupert Murdoch and Wendi Murdoch (1999-2013)

After the divorce with his second wife, Rupert walked down the aisle with Wendi Murdoch. Before marrying Murdoch, Wendi was already married to Jake Cherry; however, only after three years of marriage, the couple split from each other. 

Rupert and Wendi remained a married couple for around 14 years. After 14 years of a blissful life, the couple started to have marital problems and filed for the divorce in 2013. The reason for their split is not revealed yet. 

As for now, he is a happily married man to his fourth partner, Jerry Hall. 

Children

For sure, getting married four times has earned him six children from three different wives. On September 8, 1971, Murdoch first wife Patricia Booker gave birth to Lachlan Keith Murdoch. With his first wife, he shares two kid. His son Lachlan is an Australian-British-American businessman and heir to the mass media. 

In addition to Lachlan, Murdoch also shares a daughter Prudence Murdoch with Patricia. His daughter is currently serving as Australian-British media executive. She has held several management positions in the News Corporation of her father and is presently a member of the board of Times Newspapers Ltd, a News Corporation subsidiary.

Similarly, with his second Anna Murdoch Mann, he gave birth to his second son James Rupert Jacob Murdoch. His son is a Harvard University graduate and currently working as a British-American businessman. 

Additionally, with Anna Murdoch Mann, Rupert shares a daughter as well. His daughter Elisabeth Murdoch Australian-born American is a media executive based in the United Kingdom. Elisabeth Murdoch is a graduate of Vassar College. 

With his third wife, Rupert shares two kids Chloe Murdoch and Grace Murdoch altogether. The children are 16 and 18 years respectively and are not involved in any kind of professional life. 

Net Worth & Salary 

Starting with an Australian regional newspaper he inherited from his dad, Murdoch constructed a media empire spanning three continents. The empire at its peak included publisher Dow Jones & Company, 21st Century Fox, and Sky Television, The Wall Street Journal. 

Murdoch has a staggering net worth of around $20.7 billion as of 2019. Murdoch sold $71 billion to Disney in 2019 for 21st Century Fox, one of his biggest assets, earlier reported by Business Insider. But while his empire may not be as big as it once was, on a worldwide scale, it was once very powerful on a global scale.

Also, Murdoch and his family were never richer, with Forbes adding $20.9 billion to their collective net worth. Even after dividing his fortune between his six kids, according to Bloomberg, Murdoch himself has a net worth of $7.35 billion.

It will be underestimated for Rupert's mansion to just name as a house. Not everyone can be as lucky as Rupert. He has excellent real estate in England, China, Australia, and America, along with some aircraft and ships on which he can sleep.

Divorce Settlement 

Along the way, Rupert tied a knot with four different women and has gone through the most expensive divorce settlement of all times as well. The divorce settlement with his first wife is not available at the moment due to her sudden death. 

However, with his second wife, Rupert went through the most expensive divorce of all times. He had to give away $1.7 billion worth of money to his second wife Anna Trova as a divorce settlement in 1999. 

In the same manner, Murdoch had to give away the pretty good amount of money to his third wife as well yet the details about the divorce settlement is still under the shade.
