The current queen consort of Spain, Queen Letizia, is one of the respected personalities. Previously she served as a journalist for EFE and ABC. Later became a news anchor at Television Espanola and CNN+. Before marrying the King of Spain, she used to have a normal living as of now, and she now enjoys a very quality and prosperous lifestyle.

Letizia was born on 15th September 1972 on Oviedo, Asturias, Spain. Her birth name is Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano. She grew up in a middle-class family. She is the eldest daughter of Maria de la Paloma, a registered nurse and father, Jesus Alvarez, a journalist. She has two younger sisters, Telma Paloma born in 1973 and another Erika Paloma was born in 1975, she later died in 2007 with an intentional prescription drug overdose.

The world got surprised after the Royal household announced the engagement of King Felipe and Letizia on 1st November 2003. It was reported that the King proposed her with a 16-baguette diamond engagement ring, which answer was obviously yes. 

After that, she moved to live in Zarzuela Palace until the day of her wedding. On 22nd May 2004 in the Cathedral Santa Maria La Real de la Almudena in Madrid the beautiful wedding took place. 

Twenty-five million people in Spain alone watched the grand royal ceremony. Over 1200 guests were seen at the wedding, including 36 royal houses and heads of state.

The wedding cost is believed to be one of the expensive ones, although it was the King's wedding. The estimated cost of the wedding was approximately $28 to $54.5 Million; however, it hasn't been officially confirmed yet. Even numerous criticisms rose about the high cost of the wedding. 

Though that all ended up like blink of an eye. Letizia wore the Valencia silk and embroidered with gold and silver threads. She looked too stunning as she was helped by the shoe designed by the Pura Lopez. On the other hand, Felipe ended up wearing a Great Tag suit of the Army. He also wore the Collar of the order of the Golden Fleece.

Spanish King and Queen are blessed with two daughters

The wonderful King and Queen have been married for over one decade. And their love and bounding seem very much great. In their marital duration, the two are blessed with two wonderful daughters. 

The pair first welcomed their daughter, Leonor, Princess of Asturias, on 31st October 2005. And later second daughter, Infanta Sofia, on 29th April 2007. Both of the kids were born at Ruber International Hospital in Madrid. As of now, both kids are enjoying the royal lifestyle and are still in their school days. 

The elder one Leonor is currently fourteen years old, while Infanta is just twelve years old. Further, the family of four is living a well-settled lifestyle and loves one another companionship. They're often seen traveling various places together on their weekend. 

Queen Letizia was previously married to a writer

It is no secret that the Queen of Spain is married twice to date. Before marrying King Felipe, she was married to a writer and a high-school literature teacher, Alonso Guerrero Perez. After dating for several months, the pair tied wedding knots on 7th August 1998. 

The simple civil ceremony took place at Almendralejo, in Badajoz. However, just enjoying one year of marital life, the pair got separated. The marriage was later dissolved by divorce in 1999. 

As of now, Letizia is happily married to the King, while there is no news regarding Alonso's affairs and relationship.

Queen Letizia of Spain and the King tested for Coronavirus

As per the Spanish royal family's statement, Queen Letizia of Spain and King Felipe were tested for coronavirus. The decision to be tested came after the Queen a minister of equality. They began their testing the same week after the news of several coronavirus victims came out, such as actor Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson.

At present, Spain is among the top countries having the highest caseload of COVID-19. However, Spain's King and his wife, Queen Letizia, both tested negative for coronavirus.
